Freelance Web Designer Oklahoma City, OK

After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in MIS, I began my career working in IT as a Unix Systems Support Analyst. Despite the fact that I enjoyed the technical support field, I knew my real desire was to be a professional web designer. I successfully taught myself HTML and designed a website for the Unix Systems Support team at my job. I loved every moment of it.

Shortly after this, I married a military man who was stationed in another state and quit my job. Within a year of marriage he received orders moving us to Germany for three years. I suddenly found myself in what felt like another world.

Germany was a great experience which allowed me to easily travel to countries such as Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, and France. I got to visit great cities like Paris, Amsterdam, St. Tropez, Nice, Monte Carlo, and Cannes. I even got to see great things like the Eiffel Tower, the Mona Lisa, the Louvre and some of the most beautiful beaches on earth. While in Paris, I unsuccessfully tried to get a sneak peak of Eva Longoria’s wedding to Tony Parker. But to top it all off I went to the Cannes Film Festival and lost my big toe nail in a paparazzi crush that involved Sean Combs and Tracey Edmonds.

Because I didn’t speak German, I quickly discovered there was no way I could continue working in my career field. I decided to get some books and taught myself CSS, PhotoShop, and Flash, and began freelance web designing for friends and small churches. Although I have been a freelance web designer for over ten years , I am enhancing my skills by studying the latest web design and development trends at Francis Tuttle Technology Center.
